The 32 pill beat the 96 pill on the tape.. :eek: I was decided that the hosting club would honor the 32 pill win-- but from that point forward... The 1/2 waves are no longer allowed.. This rule still stands..

I keeps my Rod of God in my pants until the lights go out but as far as antennas go I imagine a 1/2 wave would be tall or have some big coils.

I runs me a Predator 10k on the SugarWagon and a Wilson 5k roofmount on the Pickup. I've run monkeymades and wilson on the SugarWagon and to be honest they all performed the same. The monkeymade did break twice at the base by the flat coil. They gots a lifetime warranty and I gots new ones no problem. I've run the 10k for about a year with no complaints.

I think the Wilson is a very under rated antenna. It's the best mobile I've ever used on the pickup. I run a 6 pill to it everday and my reflect is a constant .25 on a 250 miliwatt slug. That hard to top.

another thing Sugarcane, did you buy that modified TS350 brand new (freshly built)??

I sold one about 8 years ago, that was 100% Joker amps on the inside. Copper Board, and Class C --- PeakaBoo built it for me. It was keyed 3 times then I sold it off... I kick myself in the backside, every time I think about that.

Its a real shame PeekaBoo is no longer building..

He was a true innovator, and contributed a lot of ideas that are still being used.

I really liked his motormaul remotes he made -- Digital voltmeter, remote amp switches-- real classy, he was way ahead of the pack back then..

Any chance Dave still makes those Rod of God antennas or possible to get dimensions.I wanted to get one when he was still selling it back in the 90's but my funds was real limited. I want a real half wave antenna not the fiberglass wound ones. I also want to have a Rod of God just cause I always wanted one. Thanks

There no longer made. The glass caps that he used are no longer available, plus they would break real easy. A little twist and they would crack the glass. The best thing to have for half waves on a mobile is a parasitic element. I have made a few here in the shop for some locals, and man do they talk, just can't drive with them because their so dam tall. Were getting ready to install a back door on 1 of the guys trucks here around DC.

that 667 I sold was modified by -=BOO=- it was a screamer for sure, especially for a texas star. I'd like to have one of his own boxes though. I think my next upgrade might very well be a zman box though, they look really nice.

I had a Texas Star DX350HDV , that was gutted and rebuilt by Joker amps..

It had the copper board, and all comp grade components.

It looked bone stock from the outside.

It was like a YUGO with a Chevy 350 under the hood.

About 1/2 wave the Rod of God, though...

There isn't too much use for them since you can't use them at keydowns anymore.--

I am curious to see the antenna you are describing StickMan.
Is it a 1/2 wave coil, or a straight stick??
"parasitic" describes the reflector-- but what does the driven element look like?

DM99 , Do you mean a bounceback antenna as a parasitic element or is it the actual hot/driving element being halfwave? Halfwave having a lower angle of radiation is what I'm after, its mainly for locking down the Bowl here in Hawaii and talking skip, nothing else.

Yes this 1 is bolted on, there still being tested, I have 3 out right now, 1 is in New York, 1 is in The northern neck of Va and I have the 3rd 1. The 1 I have in NY is all 6160 with a welded coil, but the coil is flat. The next 2 are with a round coil. I have found threw test that round coils give a little better angle of radiation. But to answer your last questioned the length is around 29 foot.

Yes I was referring to 55.. Tyler Texas in 2000. My point of the post was to explain the level of devastation the 1/2 waves have for ground wave talking.
The guy with the 96 pill had 3 times the amplifier power, and I am sure he had a pretty decent antenna system (I was told 5 -- 1/4 wave sticks).. and the 1/2 waves, on a 32 pill made the tape.. That is simply incredible in itself..

I have talked to the guy in the northern neck on his and the signal difference he gives between it and his burban with f sticks is amazing. I think he keyed on breeze with it lol. I also have seen some of the tests dropmaul has done with this antenna and it has some serious db gain

Well....that's the story that dave tells anyway... and i will say he and those guys spread the word on multi antenna systems but he's not the one that started it, Dave got destroyed in Daytona Beach one year by a 4 antenna setup and that is when he started the multi antenna thing

why not just stick a antron 99 or i-max 2000 on the vehicle ? you cant drive it either way .

You can I've seen guys do that 2, only problem is u need did to get it off the ground for it to work efficiently. With the half waves for mobiles their using the ground plane of the truck to get a better match from the antenna, plus the angle of radiation that comes off of it.
