Dodgem Says:

"I took full advantage of everything the 11 Year Sun Spot Cycle had to had to offer in the early part of this decade, it's on it's way back and you better be ready for it when it gets here."

Yeah, I know it man, I keep up on my meds and watch the cholesterol and stuff, and make sure there's plenty of bran fiber, and prune juice laying around. However, 2012 is the year that Nostradamus said the world the world was gonna end anyway, so, it probably won't matter. BUT, if the world doesn't end, then I'll have to stock up on that crap, I'll need for the next few decades of waiting while you struggle to talk skip from Illinois to Maryland, so, this could be an interesting wait. :D

That ought to put a schnizzle in your frizzle young duck. LMAO ROFL

I jumped in on this skip deal in about 83. Since then I've had a various amount of setups, ranging from basic bases, to 4 element flats with 2 kw at the house, to a few watts in the car. Operators new to the hobby have no clue how fierce the skip can get. In 1991 or so I was talking into Europe daily on 500 watts and back then that was considered a lot of power. Now days, that is a driver, and when I say 500 back then, I'm not talking peak, so don't start thinking you're a big guy with a 2 pill. I recall regularly talking to Belguim to the same guy on AM, day after day, so be prepared for nonstop action daily. The big difference now is the power has increased here, not so much in the UK it seems, but here it is much more prevalent, so we'll see what happens.

A significant number of North East Corner old schoolers such as myself do not local talk , I guess we are still burnt out from the sudden influx of CBers on the band during the Smokey and the Bandit CB craze. LOL

So now we quietly sit back and wait for the DX...... we will wait till we can see the whites of their eyes , and then.........and then FIRE !!
Soon enough there will be so much condition ,most everyone will tire of it after a month or so .......LOL sheesh , it's about time !!!

Talked to Arizona yesterday on channel 6, he was talking to someone in the Carolinas when i heard him, but i couldnt hear them. in fact talked to him twice just to see if i could still get him at one point he put 9 pounds on my meter. Feels really good to talk with my measely little 6 watt radio, and get out especially on channel 6. lol

In the middle of the last cycle, I was trapped in small town west texas with absolutely no local activity and minimal trucker attendance. DX was the link to the outside world. Even today, that place has no fiber optic cable or cellular service coverage. This cycle will be different though. I have chosen the unpopular tight beam pattern and higher front-to-back ratio for a more favorable "PEAK" DX experience!!!!

I am getting ready too, towers are going up soon (waiting for the permits), and looking at antennas now. I worked Steel Bill 550 in the Mag yesterday on channel 20. The bands are slowly improving.
