Well I have decided to throw up a base station for now, as I enjoy being lazy and sitting on my ass with air conditioning and beer in hand:lol: Not going to be any big maul dropping base, just mainly to chat with locals and talk skip now and then. I plan on putting up a beam under my omni eventually if I enjoy the base station thing like I think I will.
Heres what I have ordered so far
Imax 2000 (shoutout to Mojo)
JT-400 Coax and jumpers
Workman 1000w meter
X-Force TNT 350 (2x2879) (shoutout to CustomCBRadios for coax, meter, and 2pill)
Destroyer 1x4 (shoutout to Destroyeramps/chris)
Astatic Night Eagle d104 (shoutout to Zman)
Wanted to concentrate on some nice audio on the base and never had anything but a class C box, so I figured id give the B a try. Was going to get a palstar meter but then said fuck it. Ive used the workmans in the past there not to bad...(till Junkie pegs the needle on the 5w scale with an amp on a couple times). I will run the Destroyer 1x4 on my own 18v power supply when I really need to lay down the law, but the TNT I plan on using as my daily talker.
Heres what I need
Chimney Mount
Radio (texas ranger tr696f ssb)
Pyramid 50amp power supply
Rack Mount equiptment
Will be buying the Texas Ranger new in box, will be rack mounted. The 50amp power supply will be rack mounted as well, and will run the TNT and whatever else I need to throw on it (would use the 50amp I built but I dont want to run the class B box over 13v). If anyone knows there I can find a chimney mount that will work with a 2" mast pipe let me know, the ones ive found only go up to 1.5'. I also plan on getting a rack mount cassette/cd recorder to run gates, since the Texas Ranger has rca jacks for real gates :)
So like I said nothing extreme but should still get the job done well, and be a very clean setup. The base of the imax will be at about 45-50ft. I think I covered everything. Ill let ya guys know how it comes along. Should be setup within a few weeks. I have only getting 1 or 2 days off a week from work, so when I can get up on the roof will depend on the weather:rolleyes:
