Keyup Tone w/ Echo Board

Am I to assume when installing a keyup tone in a radio with an echo board you would install the tone after the echo board to prevent the tone from being "echoed" correct?

personally i would install it befor the echo board .especially if the board has a on board pre amp .that way the tone would get amplified too.
if you really want to install it after the echo board then you must hook the audio from the toy on the output of the echo boards audio.
if you do this you might find that the tone is not as loud as your transmit audio.its your choice.
all depends if your echo board has a pre amp or not.

The only problem that I see installing it before the echo board is that it will distort the audio of the toy....

i have all my toys installed befor the board in every radio that has a toy and echo .never a problem with distortion.guess it depends on how much echo or reverb you run?
most toys have a volume control as well so it can be fine tuned for volume once installed.
what toy you got on your mind?if it has a volume control i wouldnt be too concerened.

After the echo unit is best... most sounds recorded are audio clips distinct in character and lose that character when fed through a bucket-brigade device. Also and most important is 'cause before the echo unit, the sound player can act as a pickup for RF and ground loop oscillations can occur.. ... especially with Super-Mods and Amps being used with them......when these occur you can get squeals, rumbles, spews and all kinds of junky noise induced into the audio.
