Is this Ranger's new version of the old Galaxy 77HML? It sure looks like it. I've owned one of every radio Galaxy made up until the newest ones came out. At one time, I had them all...like a complete set. I slowly sold them off, sadly, and all I've got left is my personal favorite...the 77.
If this radio is anything like the 77 that I have...it's an awesome radio. I've got to find one of these to test and see if it performs like the 77. My 77, as tuned on an HP service monitor does about 55 watts of PEP power. It's truly my favorite Galaxy radio...

Well, no I'm just excited that RCI would be building a new version of the old Galaxy 77 which isn't built any more. Personally, I prefer the export radios over the standard CB radios. They also got a new radio with 4 2879's onboard and I imagine that's a killer radio if you don't want to run an external linear.
But yeah...I'm excited...I like export rigs.

lol the only way i would be excited by a export radio is if it was in the middle of the street and i was aiming for it with my suburban!!

Well, that raises a question then. Why do the "big guns" or the "maul droppers" seem to prefer the standard radios like a Cobra 29?
What would be your reasons for not liking an "export" rig?
im sure someone will chime in on the technical reasons but for me.. you pay for a lot of useless crap like echo, rodger beep, robot voice etc etc they may be fine if your in a truck all day and are running a small amp, but for my experiances they dont work well with large amps- over 6 pill .... you can pay 2,3,or $400 for a export, i will take a 25,29, 68 or 78 with a good dustin comp tune any day

Well, if an export radio is tuned properly and the adjustments are set right like mic gain, variable and echo, etc., it will be a good talking radio for years. The reason that the Cobra and Uniden radios are more popular by some are the basically the same reasons: If tuned properly and adjusted properly, they can be just a dominating of a transmitting machine as an export- in some cases better. The difference has more to do with the filtering, harmonics and bandwidth. But its all in the way the radios are tuned and operated.

Well, I'll say you're right. When you're in a truck...it's about echo and gadgets. I don't care for the robot thing...and my echo is set to just trail off a tad of repeat at the end of my sentence. Mostly cause I don't like the way I sound...so the echo helps my voice out a little bit...but like I said, I don't use much.
I like the frequency counter option but I have no use for it. I do like USB and LSB but I hardly ever use that either. I personally like the option of having dual finals...but all this is useless in a comp keydown setup, I'll agree. I was just asking cause I didn't know why a Cobra seemed to be the biggest chosen radio in this field.
Not familar with Dustin...as I've said before I do all my own tuning and repair work. I've seen some really hacked up radios in my time, sure some of you have too. Not tooting my own horn...but I was pretty close with my B&K equipment, O-scope and freq counter to a near perfect tune when my radios went on the service monitor. So I must be doing something right too. And if I were to build a keydown vehicle/setup then I'm sure I'd follow the proven workings and buy a Cobra also to handle the voice situation.
But I too personally love an export and I want one of those too. Looks like a Virage with that shiny faceplate...the Galaxy's were more matte finish than shine.

I would rather spend $100 on a radio and then be able to spend the extra $100-$300 on the rest of the system were it will really count. Like amp, antenna, electrical. You know the stuff that will make a noticiceable improvement on system.

I agree with 557 on this, it's not really what kind of radio you got it's how you use it for the most part. As for as a export being a waste of money, If it has the features that you wan't than it's very economical. Go buy a new 29, than pay a tech to add echo, rogerbeep, viagra board and before you know it you have alot more in it than you would a export that comes with all that. But it's all in what you wan't, I don't like export's, But I don't think there a waste of money. Dolla's out

Well I understand...but personally I'm an export fan but I don't dislike the plain radios...I guess it's whatever purpose you're trying to serve...right?

10-4 porkchop everyone might have a different purpose for the radio they want.
Got a chance to see the radio last night and I must say very impressed. Solid recieve and a very strong transmit section. Real nice looks and solid layout. If it holds up to anything like the 77 this will be a very solid choice for an export. Find yourself a competent tech and you will not be disappointed. I am now trying to save to get one. Thinking about trading my pre DX 2950 for one of those.

Some like Exports, some don't. I understand (now) both sides of that coin.
I've always been a Galaxy fan...some were real good radios...some were dud's. The 77 has been my all-time favorite and if that new radio is anything like it...it's an awesome radio. I think I'm going to start saving for a new one too. But in the name of being fair...I'm going to start looking at some non-export radios too that I've overlooked in the past. Don't get me wrong...I've worked on a ton of non-export radios for various guys...but I never paid them much attention because I've always been an export fan.
From what I understand it has a 360015c same board as all the Mosfet versions like General Lee, 3300Hp, Galaxy 33HP and 55HP but this one has SSB. The only issues I've heard of so far was slight drifting when cold but once warmed up stays on freq , just bring it in with the clarifier. If you owned a Galaxy before this one behaves like all others. I wish they dropped some blue LEDs in.

You see, that is what the hobby is all about- people getting excited about a particular radio or other device. Its all about preference. Not which is better or worse, but about what makes you happy and serves your wants and needs. Everyone has a different lifestyle and differences in taste values. Since you are the one that spends the money, you should get what your heart desires. One thing that I noticed about auto manufacturers that would be beneficial to CB radio manufacturers is the excitement that brought up when the new mustang, charger, challenger and now the Z28 Camaro. Hell, I got excited about it. The same would be said for the radio manufacturers if they brought back to life, some of the older popular radios such as the Trams, Johnsons, Presidents, Unidens and Cobras. Wow, that would be cool!

I will have to agree with Mr.557,
The Export and Domestic radio's are like a woman in a diamond store! Once you get the size, Clarity and cut over with they all do the samething! That's sparkle in the light! LOL I chose a radio by what I am desiring out of it, whether it put out 1 watt or 400 watts. It all in the eye of the beholder! If you are into SSB, Dxing and just talking around the block, The exports covers it all!

Anybody seen this for sale yet?Noticed a few for sale on the web. Definitely would try one... My DX77HML is a rock solid performer. The only change that I would make on the 77 is the TB control. Stays on if echo is used. Ranger addressed that problem and corrected it.
