Gunslinger and I are gonna look at a couple of 2000 suburbans fri..hopefully they are in reasonably good shape and not to much of a project...kinda excited about the prospects.

Audio input mod

Ok guys I did an audio input mod to my 55v. Also changed c187 and c191 to a .22uf for the hifi mod. Question is what can i put in series on the the audio in line to cut down the audio going in enough to be able to turn the mic gain up. If i turn it past 1/4 It just squels I have tryed grounding and all but it is like i can not get the levels right tried running an ipod and my computer in to it. It works well but the audio is broadcasted low because i can't get the mic gain up enough on the radio. Any ideas?

Scored Mics for my GrantXL and Stryker 447...

I have two Grant XL's and just purchased a Stryker 447 and I wanted to get better mics than the stock mics. I have been watching ebay and various for sale areas and I just purchased the following mics for my radios...what do you think. (All in very good condtion)
One 575-m6 power mic for $25
One 636L for $25
Two Turner Road King 56's $$25 each.

I have done some reading here and these look to be decent mics to use with our radios.

so today i got my radio back from STD. very quick turn around, sent it out late monday and got it back today (not bad going from NJ to AZ). i got to say this radio absolutely screams. slaps my 1X4 around very nicely. A+ work from STD. if i get the time this weekend i'll setup the watergate station and do an air check for everyone to hear.

Mr Suburban put an audio jack in one of my Uniden 68s so I can plug an iPod into it and play music and watergates over the air. It's the shit.... It sounds so clean that when I play watergates over it, people respond thinking it's actually that person.. Lol pretty neat

Also, if you have audio rack gear or a mixer this is an easy plug-and-play option for you, just plug your output right into the back of the radio. I think he does pretty much whatever connector you want. I asked for a regular 1/8" TS for ease of use with an iPod but you could always get a 1/4" to use with studio equipment

Okay I'm new here and I've been out of Radios for a few years but decided to get back in, I'd like to run a maul eventually but right now I'm starting piece by piece. So I'm getting this Dave made m80 2 pill driver and galaxy 55v from this guy, the only thing that worry's me is that he said it will do 200 on a predator 10k antenna, shouldn't it do alittle more than that? I think the m80's come with 2 2879's right? I had home made driver box (2 pill) with 2290's in it that would do 250 with a crapy 29 LTD pushing it. Does this sound right? Like I said I've been out of radios for about 2 years so I may be rusty lol

that's not fair at all is it? I would say that's abuse of moderator privliges.

I had a Philly 76 I wasnt able to do anything with so I gave it to Nicky for a little love.

Got the radio back, 1 week back and forth. Radio is lean and mean. Doing very nice numbers, loud and proud. Due to technical difficulties I am not able to run it in front of anything right now; only barefoot but it is doing job.

The work was nice and clean, prices are right in line too.

I drive a KW T800 at work. I have a Ped 10K mounted on the drivers side mirror bracket. That thing is directional as hell. I can be listening to someone and I'll get off an exit changing the trucks direction and the guy will drop right out. Anyone have any tips on how to change this?

This is the extremely rare Jentec 148 GTL-DX-Jentec MK series built in England. With full scan features with separate processor board...........check out the ALC and band and mode switching on front as well as the digital readout. Coming out with a digital wide band transmitter ?

I'm just wondering when the super tech copy cats are coming out with their own wide band digital transmitter ?

Maybe they haven't built one like it because they can't write code for the processor ?

Maybe it's because they can only copy what they can see ?

Maybe someone could show me the page this is on in the Motorola handbook ? :lol:
