Thread: 2x8 combinner question. and help

    I have done 5 in, 5 out. It should work, sounds like input and output are off. Also depending on core material, I would do 5 or 7 wraps on all output combiners. 18 gauge is good for about 1000 watts after that you need to go to 16 gauge. If the output combiner on each 4 pill section using 5 turns at 18 gauge, that will work, but the final I would use 16 gauge wire at 5 turns. If it's built right, it should take between 68 and 110pf to tune output. You need to take the fixed cap or whatever is in it and put a heavy duty air variable in there and tune it. Same for the input.

    ok if i change the middle combiner with the one shown in the picture would that help. rated at 2800watts 16 gauge comparecomb-7=2800watts-16-gauge wire.jpg to mine 20 or 18 gauge wire use. also can i leave the left outer and right outer the way they are

    Yes you can leave the left and right combiners. The middle or last one is the final combiner. It should work. On a side note, I never liked using the big fat transformers for that kind of setup as those transformers in that kind of set up using that style of combining system always seems to pull harder amp wise.
