Is it just me or is he putting 25kw through what looks like LMR400, even if it's 600, that's a head scratcher?

Let me put it this way the bird 43 line section is rated for 10 kw, i have the same coaxial dynamics 25kw slug for the 43, always would read high and I have tested a few. with a amp that size he needs to step up to 1 5/8" line section. I wish he would have showed the plate voltage and current meters a lil longer to get a true indication of the real power that thing is doing

thats the nice thing with tubes, if you have the amps and volts you can figure out the volts unless you grounded the transformer.

Grounded the transformer? Are you talking for the filament? If you ground the high voltage section, I'll let you turn it on. Wish I could see more in the box as well. I wonder what is used for plate tuner. Volts and amps equal power yes. But you also have to take into account efficiency. My next question on the bird, was that a peak reading or average reading.

its a bad idea to ground the transformer, it was a mute point of mystery watts

I would say that is 100% peak reading he said he has a 7 kv transformer and 3.5 amps

I've put 35Kw through a bird 43 section with a 50Kw slug in the hole, although it was only for a few seconds, it held fine for the brief test.It is very possible to do. Blown a few PL's off coax a time or two too. I believe that is a hard-line he's using, not LMR400.

Not sure exactly how he has it scaled but i saw where he said it was 7kv at 3.5, amp looks good I especially like his music when he's making them...

Yeah I have seen it happen with 20KW blew the connector right off the back of 43 line section, what was the 50 kw a KH1? Never saw anything bigger than a 25k and that was made by coaxial for the 7/8 line section.

Custom made slug, purchased directly from Bird about 10 years ago via a military contract. They can and will do anything you want, as long as you got the $.

FYI - the amplifier was sold and picked up already :ihih:

i would assume a 35 kw amp has 1 5/8 " or more likely 3 1/8" connections how did you connect the 43 to amp ? Did Dr White approve of this ?? Lol
