    If 3 tubes in paralell....

If you run it class AB1 linear, you will see 350 to 500 watts AM deadkey. Class C would be 700 to 1000.

This is very conservatively speaking, without stressing anything, and just loafing along.....

Need plans for something like that ???

I agree with the linear figures.

Now all we need is a "I'm going to beat the crap out of my amp and ask for help on the internet after it blows up figure".

By the book, a 250B is only rated at 250 watts pep. So 750 pep. Maybe a 200 watts DK. Sure you can push it harder, that's your baby. But a guy around me blew 2 in his 5 tuber and he cried when I told him to buy 5 new tubes. They are about 150 bucks each at RFParts. So drive it how you want, just remember when it blows, that's 450 bucks for new tubes.

I beleive I read in the specs that you should not try to get over 165 watts each in class AB1

That's assuming it is ab1. They may have it set up as GG. Not the first time I have seen it done.

That's only true when the amplifier is 50% efficient.

For ssb linear 60% is normal.

That would be closer to 350 watts out per tube.

Plate dissipation usually is not equal to output power.

Your right hi def. Was looking at the old RCA tube book. RFparts rates them at 400 watts a tube.

Grounded grid and grid driven yield within a few percent of the same output power for the same plate dissipation.

Here are some numbers. Use your own numbers for pretty much any amplifier.

    1000 watts DC input power
    60% efficiency
40% heat. Wasted power. Most of this is wasted in plate or collector dissipation.

These numbers give 600 watts out, 400 watts plate dissipation.
Proves a 60% efficient linear amplifier will make about 1.5 times the plate dissipation out the pipe (minus tank losses which are small if edgewound coil stock is used and you send me 20 bux).

Owner of this thing has offered it again....( he said the buyer backed out ) It comes with 7 extra good tubes, Can pick it up for 450.
Cover looks rough (not a problem) owner says 2200 watts on a dosy.......with everything said here, its safe to say it should do at least 1kw
    Amp also has SSB delay.
    What do ya think ??
