upon a very quick glance the pinout seems the same, what are the heater requirements for both tubes?
Hated for being the postman of truth :mad2:
looks like they both require 6.3v but the 6lq6 needs 2.3 amps and the other one you mentioned needs 1.6 amps. makes me wonder if the output is lower or the gain is lower. I didnt read the data sheet any further. if the filament supply is un regulated it might not have as much of a load on it and it might be at too high a voltage. i guess it depends on the amp. try it and see what happens.

It think the tube is about a inch shorter, will put out about half the wattage and less tube life.....Dang I just sold 15 6lq6's on ebay......thats funny, I just sold a firebird 500 also.
Now you will have a firebird 250......

If I recall I used to use 6km6 for cheap replacements. Been yrs since Ive meesed with those but after looking up a 6jf6 it's a replacement tube for the 6km6. The 6km6 was a shorter tube and plate cap was smaller and had to crunch in the spring caps so they would fit. Wattage wise wasn''t drasticly lower then the 6lq6, wasnt as low as half the output.
Let me know whatcha come up with, 22 steel turned me on to those 6km6s a log time ago and he's a hermit these days so I can't ask him for the info...If those were 6km6s I used back in the day then those 6jf6s will work..
Dropper In the Corn!!!
Look up the tube data......you will see the output will be alot less......maybe not exactly half.......but a good bit.

Im not arguing......just stating facts..........
Why would anyone say only 500 from a 3-500Z ???????????????
Because there dinks and don't know any better hahahaha Ive had that conversation on more then one occassion to the point I wont even reply to that...Same as DB gain claims on antennas, you could argue till the Jesus comes back on that with some.
Ref the 6km6s, Im sure your right whats on paper, I just recall changing out firebird 500s and k500s, and other boxes that take 6l6qs and the power vs whatcha lost wasnt that bad. Slap them in retune tank and go...Hell put a bird 43 with a 500 watts slug on a box that uses 6lq6s and the man running a dosy meter on that type of box get his feelings hurt quick, and that's with out changing the tubes over to 6km6s lol
Your friend in the corn!!!!
Dosy......Ha !! I know thats right, along with several others.
