Kris big boomer
Hello to all. My friend got a kris big boomer and it is i think a 3 tuber and were only able to get about 150 watts out of it while tuning it. What could be wrong? Tubes look to be in great shape? We were driving it with a president madison doing about 20 watts. I dunnoAttachment 2652
I would look at the caps.....chances are it has the old paper cornell caps, I bought and sold several of these...........everyone I have seen either had caps already changed or had your problem which is fixed with a quick change
cool are they hard to get my hands on and would they be simple to replace? i havent opened the box up yet and not quite shure where they are located at on this one. the tubes look good and all and if this is his problem what kinda power should he see from it by hitting it with a magnum S-9
Here is a link where you can download free PDF's of the Kris manuals. (There seems to be 2 versions of that amp).
From a quick look at the manuals, I think that is all that it puts out.
Well .......also you say the tubes "look" to be in great shape...they need to be tested.
with the drive your using, you should see 250-300 watts....and your overdriving the crap out of it.....4 or 5 AM watts are plenty.
Caps are under bottom cover......about the size of a D cell battery, you cant miss them, easy to change, always caps for sell on ebay.
Voltage in the amp will light you up !!!! You sound like you dont know what you doing, let someone who does fix it !!!!
DONT HURT YOURSELF
